Position: Learning Support Assistant

Reeson Education is recruiting a Learning Support Assistant to join an alternative provision in St Helens. This Learning Support Assistant role is a full-time, long-term position supporting young people aged 11 to 16 who experience social and emotional challenges, stress and anxiety, and difficulties in mainstream education.

Key Responsibilities for the Learning Support Assistant:

• Work closely with students in class, providing academic and emotional support.
• Help young people manage their emotions, build confidence, and re-engage with learning.
• Support students with pastoral needs, ensuring they feel secure and supported.
• Build trusting relationships with pupils who struggle in mainstream school settings.
• Work alongside teachers and pastoral teams to create a positive and structured environment.

Requirements for the Learning Support Assistant:

• Experience working with young people who have social, emotional, and mental health needs.
• A calm, patient, and understanding approach to support.
• Ability to build rapport and act as a trusted adult for students.
• Experience in a Learning Support Assistant or pastoral role is highly desirable.
• Commitment to a full-time, long-term learning support assistant position.
