Job Description - Teaching Assistant

Job Advert: 2:1 Teaching Assistant (Tutor Support)

Role: Teaching Assistant (2:1 Support Role)
Company: The CatchUp Academy
Location: WS11 (Burntwood / Cannock area)
Pay: £20 - £23 per hour
Hours: 2 to 10 hours per week (with potential for more)

Looking for a flexible, high-impact support role in education?

The CatchUp Academy is a dedicated alternative provision seeking a proactive and supportive individual to join our sessions in a 2:1 support role. Your primary focus will be to assist the lead tutor, enabling them to deliver the highest quality session to our students.

About the Role:

This is not a tutoring role. You will be the crucial support to the tutor, working in a 2:1 ratio (you and the tutor supporting the student). You will help with practical tasks, classroom management, and facilitating engagement so the tutor can teach effectively.

Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct support to the tutor during session delivery.

Help prepare and organise learning materials and resources.

Support with in-session tasks, encouraging student focus and participation under the tutor's direction.

Assist in creating a calm, positive, and structured learning environment.

Provide general assistance to ensure sessions run smoothly and effectively.

Currently supporting a couple of students, with flexibility to adapt.

What We're Looking For:

A reliable, proactive, and team-oriented approach.

Strong communication skills and the ability to follow direction.

Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting young people.

The ability to build a positive rapport with students and staff.

A commitment to safeguarding and welfare.

Previous experience in a support role (in or out of education) is beneficial, but a keen willingness to learn is essential.

What We Offer:

Highly competitive pay of £20 - £23 per hour.

Flexible hours (2-10 per week) to suit your availability.

The potential for increased hours in the future.

A rewarding role where you are a valued part of the educational team.

The opportunity to gain excellent experience in an alternative provision setting.

Become the supportive backbone of our teaching sessions.

If you are looking for a flexible, well-paid role where your support makes a direct difference, we want to hear from you.

Apply today by sending your CV and a brief note explaining why you are a great fit for this support position.

The CatchUp Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments are subject to satisfactory references and an enhanced DBS check
