Teaching Assistant - SEMH Support Location: Newark NG24 Pay: £90 - £106 per day Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:45pm (term-time only) Contract: Long-term to permanent Start: ASAP or after February half-term
We are looking for a Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children to join a specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) provision in the Newark area. This role is ideal for someone who has worked with young people in a school, youth group, care setting or similar environment and wants to develop their skills within a SEN and behaviour-support role.
Pupils in this setting benefit from adults who are calm, consistent and confident in creating a structured, positive learning environment. You'll play a key part in helping pupils re-engage with learning and build confidence, independence and emotional resilience.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs Assist with structured learning activities tailored to individual pupils Build positive relationships to support behaviour, confidence and engagement Encourage pupils to participate in classroom routines and hands-on tasks Help maintain a calm, predictable environment with clear expectations Support outdoor, practical and creative learning activitiesAbout you:
Experience working with children or young people (school, youth work, mentoring, clubs, care, etc.) Comfortable supporting pupils with behaviour or SEMH needs Able to remain composed, encouraging and solution-focused Strong communication and teamwork skills A genuine interest in SEND, SEMH support and behaviour-focused roles Training can be provided for the right candidate. A background in SEND or behaviour support is helpful but not required.What You'll Receive
