Lead Multiskilled Engineer, hands-on role where you will play a key part in keeping our site running safely, efficiently and reliably. You will be responsible for planned and reactive maintenance, responding to breakdowns, diagnosing faults and identifying opportunities to improve equipment performance and reduce downtime.
Working as part of a collaborative Engineering team, you will use your mechanical and electrical skills to maintain a wide range of equipment and site services.
Working Hours
The role operates on a rotating two-week shift pattern, averaging 40 hours per week:
Week 1: Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 2:00pm
Week 2: Monday to Friday, 2:00pm – 10:00pm
Weekend working: 1 weekend per month as part of the rotating shift pattern.
Flexibility is required to support the needs of the site and ensure effective engineering cover.
Key Responsibilities
As a Multiskilled Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to maximise equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
Responding quickly and effectively to breakdowns and equipment faults.
Diagnosing and resolving mechanical and electrical issues.
Carrying out fault-finding and repairs across a range of production and site equipment.
Supporting the maintenance of site services, including boilers, water systems, cooling systems and fabrication equipment.
Working with pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
Supporting and fault-finding on PLC-controlled equipment.
Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and implementing solutions to improve efficiency, reliability and reduce costs.
Accurately recording maintenance activities, repairs and parts used using the Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Working closely with colleagues and other departments to ensure smooth and efficient site operations.
Maintaining a safe working environment and following all relevant health and safety procedures.
Supporting engineering projects and other maintenance activities as required.
What We're Looking For
We are looking for someone who is practical, reliable and confident working in a fast-paced engineering environment.
You will ideally have:
Strong experience in a similar engineering or maintenance role.
Excellent fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
Strong mechanical engineering skills with a good understanding of electrical systems
* Good working knowledge of:
* Pneumatics
* Hydraulics
* PLC systems
Experience carrying out both planned and reactive maintenance.
Good understanding of e
gineering principles and maintenance practices.
Confidence using computers and maintenance management software/CMMS.
The ability to work independently, manage priorities and respond effectively to breakdowns.
A proactive approach to identifying and resolving problems.
Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Flexibility to work the required rotating shift pattern, including one weekend per month.
Qualifications
A recognised Electrical and/or Mechanical Engineering qualification is required, such as:
* NVQ
* City & Guilds
* Apprenticeship
* Or an equivalent recognised engineering qualification Only candidates based in UK and eligible to work in UK are allowed
