Team Leader

Astute's Power Team is partnering with a growing specialist engineering and maintenance services provider supporting the Energy from Waste and Biomass sectors to recruit a Team Leader - Lance Operations for its Guildford-based operation, with travel across the UK and Ireland.

The strategically important Team Leader role comes with a starting salary of £32,000, increasing to £34,100 following successful probation, plus £5,000 annual allowances and excellent benefits.

Responsibilities and duties of the Team Leader role

Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will:

Work in a hands-on capacity alongside a small team of Lance Operators at client sites.
Provide direction, leadership and mentoring to typically two direct reports, ensuring allocated tasks are completed safely, efficiently, on time and to specification.
Manage labour, tools, equipment, supplies and other resources effectively for each allocated project.
Ensure customer requirements are delivered in accordance with risk assessments, method statements, operating procedures and company standards.
Maintain high Health & Safety standards both on and off site, challenging poor practice and reporting any breaches or areas for improvement.
Plan and document projects, capturing lessons learned and providing relevant feedback to customers and internal teams.
Develop detailed Work Instructions based on experience and project learning to support the successful delivery of future cleaning operations.Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

A hands-on engineering, mechanical, maintenance or similar background is desirable; candidates with the right aptitude and willingness to learn will also be considered.
Previous experience working under strict Health & Safety rules and procedures.
Previous team leadership, supervisory or mentoring experience is desirable.
Ability to work independently following relevant training and without day-to-day supervision.
Full, clean manual driving licence, ideally held for a minimum of two years.
Must be over 21 and able to drive a company van.
Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout the UK and Ireland, with regular overnight stays.
Physically fit and capable of undertaking an arduous manual role, including repeatedly carrying loads of up to 20kg up multiple flights of stairs and working in hot, noisy industrial environments.Personal skills

Starting salary: £32,085 per annum

Overtime, with realistic annual earnings of approximately £38,000-£45,000
