Job Description - Team Leader (Food Manufacturing)
Senior Salmon are working with a food manufacturer in Shirebrook and we are looking for a shift Supervisor / Team leader to join their expanding team.
The Team Leader is responsible for leading a food production team on shift to deliver safe, efficient and high-quality output in line with daily targets. The role combines hands-on/working shop-floor leadership with strong food safety, hygiene and quality standards, acting as the link between operatives and management while ensuring compliance with site procedures and customer requirements.
Normal working hours: Monday to Thursday, 14:00 – 22:30 (Friday, 13:30 – 22:00)
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities Operational & Production Responsibilities • Inspect, receive, and store raw materials in line with company procedures. • Identify, report, and communicate any raw material or packaging issues promptly. • Safely store and load finished goods in a timely manner. • Operate, clean, and maintain machinery to pre-determined efficiency and output targets, ensuring operational safety at all times. • Produce stock to agreed output rates and quality standards. • Lead, motivate and organise a team of operatives to achieve daily production targets in a food manufacturing environment. • Ensure all activities are carried out in line with food safety, hygiene, GMP, HACCP, allergen control and health and safety requirements. • Monitor output, waste, downtime, quality and other KPIs, taking action where performance falls below target. • Carry out line checks, start-up checks, line clearance and changeovers in line with site procedures. • Ensure raw materials, packaging and finished products are handled, labelled and stored correctly to maintain traceability and prevent contamination. • Promote high standards of housekeeping, hygiene and personal hygiene across the production area. • Complete and check production records, CCP checks, quality paperwork and shift handovers accurately and on time. • Work closely with Technical, Quality, Engineering, Warehouse and Planning teams to resolve issues and maintain production flow. • Support training, induction and coaching of team members on SOPs, food safety, allergens, hygiene and safe working practices. • Escalate foreign body risks, equipment faults, quality concerns, material shortages and safety risks promptly and appropriately. • Support internal audits, customer audits and corrective actions to maintain audit readiness. • Drive continuous improvement activity to reduce waste, improve efficiency and strengthen food safety and quality performance. • Complete “Goods In” processes, including quality, integrity, quantity, and vehicle checks. • Load and unload raw materials and finished goods as required, including completion of all relevant documentation (FLT licence essential).
