Optical Team Leader / Senior Optical Assistant
Horley & Reigate, with possible cover in Dorking
£28,000 basic salary + potential annual bonus of £5,000–£6,000

An opportunity for an experienced Optical Assistant to take on a Team Leader role, combining hands-on patient care with responsibility for supporting and motivating colleagues.

Working across practices in Horley and Reigate, with possible cover in Dorking, you’ll help the team deliver excellent service and achieve practice goals. Travel between stores will be paid.

The role

  Lead by example, providing a welcoming and professional experience for patients.

  Support and motivate colleagues, helping the team achieve service and sales targets.

  
  


• 
  

  Provide day-to-day guidance, coaching and feedback to develop team confidence.

  
  


• 
  

  Assist patients with frame selection and lens options suited to their needs.

  
  


• 
  

  Support the smooth running of the practice and help resolve patient queries.

  
  


• 
  

  Work closely with practice management to maintain high standards across the team.

  
  

The role includes some people-management responsibility, with rota planning handled separately.

About you

• 
  

  Around three to four years’ experience as an Optical Assistant.

  
  


• 
  

  Confident supporting patients with frames, lenses and their eyewear choices.

  
  


• 
  

  A positive, approachable manner and the ability to motivate others.

  
  


• 
  

  Strong communication, customer service and organisational skills.

  
  


• 
  

  Ready to take on more responsibility, or already supporting colleagues in a senior role.

  
  

Hours and benefits

• 
  

  Full-time: 37.5 hours per week.

  Four- or five-day working patterns considered.

  
  


• 
  

  Alternate Saturdays.

  
  


• 
  

  Potentially one Sunday every six months.

  No bank holiday working.

  33 days’ holiday.
