The Technical Compliance & Regulatory Manager is responsible for ensuring the Companies Products operate in compliance with applicable UK (EU where applicable) legislation, regulations and industry standards while anticipating and responding to changes.
The role translates regulatory requirements into practical requirements, processes, controls and guidance that support the safe, compliant and efficient delivery of the Company's EV charging network.
This is a specialist individual contributor role with significant cross-functional interaction. Working closely with Technology, Legal, Delivery & Operations and third-party suppliers. The role also supports compliance governance, regulatory assurance and business readiness for regulatory change.
Key Responsibilities:
Compliance & Governance
Monitor relevant technical legislation, regulatory requirements and industry standards relating to EV charging, electric vehicle supply equipment, energy, consumer protection.
Develop and maintain technical compliance policies, procedures and governance controls.
Maintain technical compliance risk registers and support mitigation plans with other cross functional business owners.
Coordinate compliance assurance activities, including audits, inspections and independent verification by internal teams and third parties.
Maintain compliance evidence and documentation to demonstrate regulatory adherence.
Support statutory product reporting and regulatory submissions.
Regulatory Monitoring and Policy
Monitor emerging technical legislation, consultations and regulatory developments, highlighting potential business impacts.
Support the preparation of consultation responses and regulatory submissions where required.
Participate in industry forums, working groups and regulatory discussions to support the organisation's interests.
Develop and maintain effective working relationships with regulators, industry bodies and external stakeholders.
Business Support & Integration
Work with Technology, Operations, Legal and Commercial teams to embed regulatory requirements into products, services and business processes.
Support the implementation of regulatory change initiatives and business readiness activities.
Promote compliance awareness through guidance, communication and training.
Supplier Assurance & Reporting
Support supplier compliance reviews and ensure appropriate evidence is maintained.
Liaise with external stakeholders, including DNOs, local authorities and service providers, on compliance-related matters.
Produce management reports on compliance performance, emerging risks and regulatory developments.
Maintain accurate compliance records and documentation.

Requirements
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Degree in Electronic engineering or equivalent course
Experience working with IEC 61851, IET Code of Practice for Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation, UKCA and CE compliance requirements, EMC and Radio Equipment Directive requirements, Low Voltage Directive principles, Electrical safety and product compliance standards,
Awareness of RED (Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU), Matter, ISO15115
Professional compliance qualification or experience (e.g. ICA or CCEP) desirable.
Minimum five years' experience in product development working on compliance, regulatory governance or policy within a regulated industry such as energy, utilities, transport or EV infrastructure
Detailed Knowledge of EV charging regulations, energy markets, consumer protection, GDPR and industry essential.
Experience supporting cross-functional compliance, governance or regulatory change initiatives.
Experience managing supplier assurance or outsourced compliance activities highly desirable.
Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to work effectively across internal teams, suppliers and external stakeholders.
Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills essential.
Experience producing policies, reports and management briefings.
Competent in Enterprise Risk Management methodology
Day to day:
Lead the verification of inhouse test methodologies against external regulations and standards
Lead open items with external test houses and verify test reports
Maintain working technical product compliance tracking including the creation of supporting materials such as technical rationales.
Provide electrical standard, regulations and compliance guidance to the business
