Technical Lead (permanent)

seeking an experienced technical lead for a
Greenfield project.

To be successful in this role
you will have a broad exposure to a wide range of technologies but ideally
looking for an expert in enterprise scale server side applications development
using Java Enterprise and Spring Framework deploying onto a Virtualised
Platform. It would also be highly beneficial to illustrate experience of building
and delivering software applications from the ground up.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

·       
Responsible
for conducting, leading and coordinating software development activities throughout
the project, includes setting principles and standards, and facilitating key
design decisions for the software frameworks, structure and configuration of
the system

·       
Provide
technical expertise in terms of software usage, functionality, performance,
scalability, aesthetics, resilience, reuse and technological tradeoffs

·       
Hands-on
design, development and testing of the software

·       
Review
and refactor code and advise/mentor more junior developers.

·       
Deploy
and support solutions through testing environments and work with test/QA teams
to ensure quality.

·       
Provide
estimates on new feature development, bugs and change requests.

·       
Work
with the project manager and enterprise architect to prepare/review designs and
functional specifications.

·       
To
deliver high quality functional software within agreed timescales

Skills

·       
3-5 years of relevant software architecture, software
development, software testing experience, and team leadership experience within
an Agile development project.

·       
Demonstrated leadership experience – must be able to lead a
group of software engineers and also be able to work independently

·       
Ability to anticipate potential problems and determine/implement
solutions

·       
Strong coaching skills with the ability to step outside role
confines and help teach and enable other team members

·       
Excellent object-oriented analysis,
design and development skills that includes a
strong knowledge of Java Enterprise design patterns and best practices

·       
5+
years software development experience in server side Java Enterprise
applications that provide a mission critical, high performance and high
concurrency business operation

·       
3+
years experience of the Spring framework (core) and hibernate within a highly transactional
environment. 1+ experience of Spring web services, Spring Security, Spring MVC
would be advantageous

·       
A
strong understanding and experience of designing and implementing applications
for high scalability and availability, experience of testing for non-functional
requirements is advantageous

·       
A
strong understanding and experience of working within an Agile/Scrum, Agile/XP
environment

·       
Strong understanding of relational
databases and SQL, including experience of MYSQL, Oracle
or postgres

·       
Must
be able to demonstrate the ability to deliver high quality software as part of
a team within tight timescales, preferably in a Greenfield environment.

·       
BSc./
MSc. in Computer Science or related discipline

·       
Good
experience of using Eclipse or STS development environment.

·       
Good
experience of Test driven development approaches and implementations, including
automation of build, test and deploy

·       
Experience
of Continuous integration and tools (i.e. Hudson/Jenkins)

·       
Experience
of GIT and/or subversion source control tools.

·       
Experience
of virtual solutions and VMware vFabric would be highly advantageous

·       
Ideally
with a background in customer facing retail solutions, ticketing solutions and/or
public transport/mass transit.
