Technical Lead (PHP)

Location: Exeter - Hybrid

Up to £75k + benefits

A fast-growing, investor-backed technology business is looking for a highly experienced senior PHP developer to lead its development team.

This is a pivotal role offering the chance to shape technical direction, lead a talented team, and build scalable, high-performance systems.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead a team of 5+ developers focused on back-end
• Define and enforce coding standards and architecture decisions
• Write high-quality, testable code in PHP 8.4 using Symfony 7
• Manage pull requests and code reviews
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical plans
• Drive improvements in system performance, tooling and scalability

What we're looking for:

• Strong experience in PHP, Symfony, and cloud platforms (AWS)
• Proven ability to lead and mentor development teams
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Deep understanding of code quality, testing, and scalable systems

Desirable skills:

• Node.js or related back-end JavaScript frameworks
• Experience with Vue.js
