Technical Manager

Salary: £50,000 - £65,000 (DOE)
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a strategic and technically savvy leader to join a fast-growing engineering business operating in the bespoke infrastructure solutions space. This newly created role bridges the gap between sales and project delivery, offering real scope to shape technical output while influencing commercial success.

• Leading and mentoring teams in both technical design and estimating
• Overseeing the delivery of complex, made-to-order infrastructure proposals
• Attending client meetings to scope technical requirements and guide pre-contract decisions
• Directing the creation of specifications, drawings, BOMs, and ensuring design integrity
• Driving commercial strategy, from pricing and contract negotiation to supplier liaison
• Aligning operational delivery with the company’s quality-first ethos

What You’ll Bring

• Proven leadership in technical and commercial environments (construction, utilities, water, or M&E sector experience ideal)
• Deep understanding of drainage systems, pump station design, or similar engineering infrastructure
• Commercial acumen across pricing, tenders, and risk management
• Strong people skills, capable of uniting technical and sales-focused teams
• Degree-qualified in engineering (or equivalent experience); chartership a bonus

• Key leadership role in a high-growth, multi-million-pound SME with a strong order pipeline
