Technical Manager

We are seeking a dedicated Technical Manager to coordinate and control Technical/QA functions across our business, ensuring all products meet the stringent specifications set by our operating, food safety, and quality procedures. This role reports directly to the Operations Director/Partner and is crucial for maintaining our high standards.

• Oversee the QA function to ensure it is executed effectively at all levels in accordance with documented procedures.
• Train and supervise staff, ensuring high levels of competency and adherence to safety standards.
• Develop strong communication lines with production and quality assurance teams to optimize planning and information flow.
• Represent the QA/Technical team in both internal and external meetings, including interactions with BRC, Red Tractor, and customers.
• Manage data from QA checks and laboratory analyses, ensuring accurate record-keeping and immediate action on out-of-specification results.
• Contribute creative solutions for process improvement as part of continuous improvement initiatives.
• Conduct internal audits of quality systems and HACCP to maintain rigorous food safety and quality standards.
• Maintain FSQMS control records and ensure compliance with all organisational requirements for quality management, health and safety, and legal stipulations.

• Certifications in Managing Food Safety & Hygiene – Level 4, HACCP – Level 4, TACCP/VACCP, Lead Auditor, and BRC v9.
• Experience with Red Tractor Assured and Microbiological Analysis.
• Proven ability to train and lead a team; Train the Trainer certification preferred but not essential.
• Strong auditing skills and familiarity with quality systems and HACCP.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively with various teams and external parties.
• Creative thinking and proactive problem-solving skills.
