Advanced Materials | Process Development | Manufacturing
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Metallurgical Technical Manager to join a growing specialist manufacturing business investing heavily in its operations, technology and production capabilities.
This is a key technical leadership position, combining hands on metallurgical expertise with process development, manufacturing support and continuous improvement.
We're looking for someone who understands metallurgy and materials science in practice - someone who can get onto the plant, understand complex processes, solve technical problems and drive improvements from development through to full-scale production.
The Role
Reporting into the senior technical leadership team, you will:
• Lead and develop a team of technical specialists, engineers and scientists. • Provide hands on technical support to manufacturing operations, resolving process issues and driving root cause investigations. • Develop, optimise and improve metallurgical processes, operating parameters and production performance. • Drive improvements in yield, efficiency, quality, throughput and process reliability. • Lead process trials, scaleup activities and the introduction of new products and technologies. • Support major equipment upgrades, commissioning and capacity expansion projects. • Work closely with Production, Engineering, Quality and R&D to translate technical developments into robust manufacturing processes. • Champion process safety, technical standards and continuous improvement.
About You
We're particularly interested in candidates with:
• A degree in Metallurgy, Materials Science or a closely related engineering discipline. • Substantial hands-on experience within an industrial metallurgical, metals processing or advanced materials manufacturing environment. • A strong practical understanding of metallurgical processes, process development and production troubleshooting. • A proven track record of resolving complex technical issues and delivering measurable process improvements. • Experience taking processes from development and trials through to industrial scale production. • The ability to combine strong technical expertise with the leadership of a technical team.
Experience with high temperature processing, vacuum technologies, metal melting, refining, reduction or casting would be advantageous.
This is an opportunity to get involved in challenging industrial processes, influence technical direction and help shape the next stage of the business's development.
