Our client, a leader in the rail industry, is currently seeking a Technical Project Manager to support the delivery of a major rail infrastructure programme, focusing on the Overhead Catenary System (OCS) scope of a high-profile UK project. Working closely with senior engineering and project leadership teams, you will coordinate multidisciplinary engineering activities, manage technical risks and interfaces, and ensure engineering delivery is aligned with programme, commercial, and contractual objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordinate and integrate multidisciplinary engineering activities across the project. Support the delivery of engineering design packages, ensuring alignment with project objectives and milestones. Identify and manage technical risks, opportunities, and delivery constraints. Facilitate engineering reviews, workshops, and stakeholder meetings. Monitor engineering progress and provide reporting to senior management. Support project governance, project controls, and performance monitoring activities. Assist with NEC contract administration, including Early Warning Notices (EWNs) and Compensation Events (CEs). Assess engineering changes and their programme, cost, and contractual impacts. Act as a key interface between Engineering, PMO, Commercial, Construction, and Project Controls teams. Promote a strong culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Job Requirements:
Essential:
Degree qualified in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline. Experience delivering engineering projects within rail, transport, or major infrastructure sectors. Strong project management experience supporting multidisciplinary engineering teams. Understanding of engineering design, systems integration, and interface management. Experience working under NEC contracts. Strong risk management, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
Desirable:
Experience with OCS/OLE, railway electrification, or rail systems projects. Experience on major rail programmes Knowledge of Systems Engineering principles. Experience with CEMAR, Primavera P6, and/or Power BI. APM, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management qualification. Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards accreditation.
