The Role:

This is a managerial title but it’s not about line management. Instead, it’s about owning and shaping a commercial property underwriting portfolio, collaborating with other experts to influence risk assessment, pricing, and market presentation across several specialist business lines.

You’ll join an experienced team that serves as the foundation for underwriting governance and support across the wider function. What sets this role apart is the blend of technical underwriting expertise and strategic input. You’ll be central to decision-making, advising on wordings, managing referrals, setting risk appetite, and steering portfolio profitability.

The position involves working closely with sales, claims, and business development teams. There’s also scope to impact new product launches and promotional efforts. You’ll handle both UK and international portfolios, aligning product performance with broader business objectives.

Who this role suits:

We’re looking for someone with strong technical property underwriting experience, ideally five or more years in commercial combined or mid-to-large market business. Experience in specialist sectors is a plus, but eagerness to learn is equally valued.
