Technology Manager Gen+ Salary: Up to £45,000 DOE Location: Hybrid – Eurocentral/Motherwell & Homeworking

Manager and drive technological excellence in our learning platform. In this varied and hands-on role, you’ll have a ‘can do’ attitude, strong technical skills and a great customer service approach. You will have a good understanding of platform operations, integrations and surrounding technology (preferably Learning Management Systems), knowledge around cloud hosting and be able to use SQL to create custom reports.
What you will be doing
LMS/Platform Administration and Operations Build/Author new courses as require by the Gen+ Edu team (Open Edx ‘Studio’ Authoring tool) Build and configure programs on LMS (Include Programme structures, Digital Badges, School relationships, Meta-Skills Tracker) Configure and monitor school sync systems (Includes Glow/RM and Xporter sync systems) Maintain/Develop the platform staging site for testing, demos, etc. Bug Management – Collate information, document, test and raise bugs with the development partner using Jira Maintain progress Reports for the education team – utilising PowerBI Build light SQL queries for custom reports, debugging or administration Ensure documentation of the above is maintained and kept up to date. Annual GDPR administration (purging user accounts and personal data) Ensure platform meets key accessibility guidelines from the WCAG
Support Provide support and advice to schools and teachers re access, synchronisation and technology issues, Lead the school onboarding process, Respond to support requests within the agreed SLAs (Occasionally) Visit schools to fact find, troubleshoot and gather information about technology issues, feedback to Gen+ and technology partner Liaise with school partners (RMUnify, Local Authority IT admins) to resolve school issues Conduct technical investigations using available tools (logging, web Provide support and knowledge to Gen+ Edu team around Educational technology, LMS/Platform functionality, accessibility and general technology Prepare reports for CEO, COO and wider Gen+ team
IT and Security management Maintain the platform DPIA/Risk Assessment process – feeding into the Risk Register DNS record and certificate management relating to platform Manage GitHub repositories – access is controlled, backups of code taken, license is appropriate Monitor and administer Web Application Firewall, submit issues to supplier when required Monitor and act upon the platform vulnerability system Monitor and verify platform backups Manage and act upon the annual penetration testing exercise Maintain Cyber Essentials accreditation for organisation Maintain and update the key security policies
Supplier and Contract Management Manage technology partner to ensure value for money, service levels are appropriate, and issues are resolved in a timely manner Cloud platform (AWS) – monitor platform for performance, value for money and identities are secured 3rd party tool administration/management (TypeForm, YouTube, Slack, Google Console) Licensing management (Asana, Miro, Slack, Google)
Skills Required Open Edx / Edx (or another LMS) administration SQL(MySQL) administration Scripting/querying– SQL, API (querying, not development), JSON (understanding) Experience utilising a public cloud (AWS preferred) Education technology including as Articulate and SCORM Understanding of Web development technologies and troubleshooting (HTML, CSS, React, Django, F12 developer tools) Web Application security (WAF, Vulnerability management, certificate management, encryption) General IT/Technology skills – DNS, IP/Networking Communication and Relationship building skills (liaising with schools) Services attitude with regards to support problem solving skills attention to detail (configuring courses, making changes to platform) Agility and ‘can do’ approach
