Job Description - Temp - Medical Office Assistant

Medical Office Assistant (TEMP – Option to Go Permanent)
📍 Newark, NJ (Local Candidates Preferred)
🕒 Full-Time | Monday – Friday | 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM or 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM
💵 Weekly Pay | Immediate Start

Position Overview:
We’re hiring a Medical Office Assistant for a temporary assignment at a respected Cancer Institute located in Newark, NJ. This role offers consistent full-time hours, weekly pay, and the potential to transition to a permanent position based on performance and client need.

Key Responsibilities:

Greet patients and visitors with professionalism and care

Manage scheduling, appointment check-in/out, and insurance verifications

Answer phones, route calls, and coordinate messages with clinic staff

Handle EMR data entry, scanning, and patient documentation

Coordinate referrals, authorizations, and provider communications

Support clinical staff with front and back-office workflow

Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA standards

Qualifications:

High School Diploma or equivalent required

Minimum 2 years of experience in a medical office or hospital setting

Familiarity with EMR systems and healthcare scheduling software

Preferred:

Associate degree preferred.

Experience in medical office setting including some billing preferred.

Bilingual (Spanish, Portuguese, or French) preferred.

Strong communication, multitasking, and organizational skills

Must reside locally to Newark, NJ and be able to commute daily

Position Type:

Temporary position with the option to be hired permanently

Weekly pay and full-time hours
