Temporary Legal Secretary

We are looking for an experienced Legal Secretary to join a friendly legal team in York city centre on a temporary basis until Christmas.

You will provide secretarial and administrative support to a Solicitor and Conveyancing Executive, with a particular focus on residential conveyancing but some work in family law and litigation.

Essential experience

You must have:

Previous Legal Secretary or similar legal support experience
Experience using LEAP
Experience using HMCTS systems
Strong audio typing/dictation skills
Good IT and general administration skills
The ability to work independently and manage your own workload

Residential conveyancing experience is preferred, and wider experience within a high street solicitors' practice would be an advantage.

Day-to-day duties:

Audio typing and completing dictations
Providing secretarial support to fee earners
Taking telephone messages and responding to general enquiries
Providing updates to clients and estate agents
Meeting and greeting clients when required
Communicating with solicitors and other third parties
General legal administration
Handling confidential client information professionally

You will need to be organised, approachable and confident communicating by telephone, email and face-to-face.
