A specialist education and care provider is seeking a qualified Therapist to join a multi-disciplinary clinical team supporting children and young people with complex emotional, developmental, and educational needs.
This role is based within a fully integrated therapeutic education and care setting in the South West, providing wraparound support to young people throughout the year. The service combines education, therapy, and residential care to help children and young people build resilience, develop emotionally, and achieve positive long-term outcomes.
The Role
Working closely with education and residential care teams, you will provide therapeutic support within a clinically informed environment for young people presenting with a range of needs including:
Developmental trauma Neurodevelopmental conditions Social, emotional and mental health needs Special educational needs
You will be responsible for assessing mental health needs, developing personalised therapeutic support plans, and delivering effective interventions tailored to individual young people.
Key responsibilities include:
Conducting therapeutic and mental health assessments Delivering counselling and therapeutic interventions Building positive and trusting relationships with young people Developing personalised care and support plans Monitoring and reviewing progress Collaborating with education and care colleagues to create supportive environments Contributing to multi-disciplinary planning and intervention strategies
Candidate Requirements
Applicants should:
Hold a recognised therapeutic qualification or accredited counselling qualification Be eligible for membership with the BACP or a similar professional body Have experience working with children and young people Demonstrate a strong understanding of child development and mental health Be able to engage effectively with young people presenting with complex needs Be organised, proactive, and able to work independently and within a team Show empathy, professionalism, and strong communication skills
Additional therapeutic or mental health intervention qualifications would be advantageous.
