Toolmaker

My client are a leading designer and manufacturing of packaging for the UK retail market. For the last 4 decades, this business has been at the forefront of innovation, sustainability, and manufacturing processes within their sector.

We are looking for a talented Toolmaker to manufacture, maintain, repair and modify production and prototype tooling, ensuring equipment operates efficiently and production downtime is minimized. The role supports continuous improvement, product development and safe toolroom operations.

Working closely with production and design, you will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

* Manufacture, repair and modify production tooling, machine spares and tooling accessories from engineering drawings and specifications.

* Prepare and finish CNC tooling, including polishing, cleaning and drilling vent holes where required.

* Produce tooling samples for testing and approval using designated machinery.

* Carry out maintenance and refurbishment of production tooling to ensure optimum performance.

* Prioritise urgent tooling repairs and breakdown support to minimise disruption to production.

* Ensure all tooling work is completed to required quality and performance standards.

* Prototype & Development Activities

* Assist with the manufacture and preparation of prototype tooling.

* Support product development projects through tooling modifications and improvements.

While time-served or CNC milling qualifications are preferred, this role would suit someone in a similar engineering discipline. You don’t have to be a fully qualified CNC Machinist, but they would prefer someone who has set or operated a machine in a machine shop environment.

Other practical engineering skills would also be advantageous to assist in tooling assembly and tooling preparation and repairs. Basic manual assembly skills would be advantageous to the team, and the ability to complete engineering documentation is also of interest.
