Job Description - Town Planner - Associate/Technical Director

Wardell Armstrong is a successful multi-disciplinary consultancy with 13 offices throughout the UK employing approximately 500 staff. At the heart of our business lies a group of outstanding people. Working together with clients. We deliver solutions to challenging problems in Mining & Minerals, Infrastructure & Energy, and Property & Development.

The Opportunity

Wardell Armstrong continues to grow from strength to strength and we are looking for another key person to help grow and develop the Environmental Planning sector of our business in the Scotland region. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and experienced professional to develop their career to the next level and to work within a multi-disciplinary environment.

With the support of the wider team of highly regarded Consultants dealing with an impressive range of projects including major infrastructure, waste and energy, minerals and strategic housing, in the following Glasgow office you will be responsible for business and team development.

Your duties will include:

  • Project managing a broad mix of planning and EIA submissions
  • Provide direction and support to the planning team on projects from inception to completion
  • Engaging with a wide range of professionals within both public and private sectors
  • Advising team colleagues on planning procedural changes and implications
  • Managing budgets and fees on projects including preparation of proposals
  • Working with a wide range of clients, managing expectations and meeting deadlines
  • Maintaining a good understanding of policies relating to commercial, infrastructure, residential and minerals schemes,
  • Proactively seeking to develop new client relationships including seeking opportunities for cross-selling;
  • Helping to mentor junior staff members to facilitate career advancement
  • Participating in public inquiries
     

As the successful candidate you will:

Be a Chartered Town Planner (MRTPI) or EIA Specialist (CEnv or MIEMA) or working towards
Have experience in the private sector
Demonstrate a clear understanding of the EIA process
Have excellent analytical and written skills
