Acorn by Synergie are recruiting for a Town Ranger for a role based in Bideford.

In this role you will establish and maintain high standards of maintenance and cleanliness within Bideford. Duties will involve a wide variety of maintenance and cleaning activities and associated skills.

Working hours will be 37 hours per week to be worked from Monday to Friday (Occasional weekend and evening work to suit the needs of the business).

Job Duties:

· Execute a wide variety of general and semi-skilled maintenance and cleaning activities (e.g. carpentry, painting, grass cutting, litter picking etc).

· Manually cleanse areas as designated by the Maintenance Team Supervisor and along the regular cleansing routes, identify and clean areas which require additional attention.

· Maintenance duties as detailed in (but limited to) the maintenance schedule and updating maintenance/cleaning records as required.

· To be the primary responder to market call outs, clean the market toilets as necessary, and to open/close Town Hall and Pannier Market (including weekends and outside normal working hours).

· 'Event set up duties' including the moving of furniture, setting up and taking down tables and chairs, erecting gazebos.

· Regular monitoring of Ford Woods to ensure the stream is clear of debris, paths are clear of litter and small fallen trees and overhanging hedges are clipped.

· Maintenance and watering of flower beds and planters in the town and regular visual inspection of hanging baskets.

· To be responsible for daily checks and routine maintenance of the assigned vehicle, tools and equipment to ensure safe operating conditions.

· Transportation of a variety of tools, equipment and supplies.

Person Specification:

· Clean driving licence.

· Trailer towing qualification/experience.

· Experience with using cleaning equipment, industrial grass cutting machinery, standard gardening tools, power and hand tools, and operating equipment used in skilled trades.

· General maintenance and painting skills.

· Ability to adapt to changing work priorities and meet deadlines

· Chapter eight (traffic management) would be an advantage.

· Duties will be performed both outdoors and indoors. The job's functions require the post holder to be physically fit.
