Trading Standards Enforcement Officer

We are seeking experienced Trading Standards Enforcement Officers to join a busy Regulatory Services team. Opportunities are available at Enforcement Officer, Senior and Principal level, depending on experience and qualifications.

You will be responsible for investigating and enforcing consumer protection legislation across areas including fair trading, product safety, scams, rogue trading, underage sales and weights & measures.

Key responsibilities include:

Conducting inspections, investigations, test purchases, sampling and market surveillance.

*

Handling service requests and providing advice to businesses and members of the public.

*

Gathering evidence and preparing cases for prosecution and court proceedings.

*

Issuing statutory notices, fixed penalty notices, warnings and other enforcement action.

*

Working with Police, other regulatory bodies and external agencies.

*

Supporting and supervising junior enforcement staff where required.

About you:

*

Previous experience in Trading Standards or a similar regulatory enforcement environment.

*

Strong knowledge of consumer protection legislation and enforcement powers.

*

Experience conducting investigations and preparing detailed infringement reports.

*

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

*

Ability to manage a demanding workload and work independently.

*

Full UK driving licence
