The Opportunity:
My client is looking for a Trading Underwriter to join their growing team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is commercially astute, enjoys broker engagement, and is confident underwriting non-standard property and casualty risks.
Key Responsibilities:

• Underwrite new business and renewals across their specialist product range in line with underwriting authority and appetite.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers, acting as a key contact to support their trading needs.
• Assess risks and provide tailored solutions, balancing profitability and service.
• Identify opportunities for new schemes or affinity partnerships through broker feedback and market insight.
• Contribute to ongoing product development, helping expand our footprint in niche markets.
• Work closely with internal teams including underwriting, product, compliance, and operations to ensure seamless delivery of service.

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience in commercial underwriting, ideally with exposure to niche or non-standard risks.
• Strong trading mindset with excellent relationship-building skills.
• Confident decision-making ability and sound judgement when assessing unusual or complex cases.
• Knowledge of property and casualty lines — experience with care risks, unoccupied property, or scheme underwriting is a bonus.
• Tech-savvy and comfortable working with web-based systems and digital platforms.
• Highly organised, self-motivated, and collaborative.
