What you’ll do
Start by observing expert teachers, then move quickly into leading small groups and full classes
Plan and deliver lessons in KS3 and KS4 Maths (and KS5, if available)
Break down tricky concepts like algebra, ratios, and problem-solving for different ability levels
Track pupil progress and refine your teaching based on mentor feedback
Learn how to run a room, handle behaviour, and build a strong classroom presence
Train towards your QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) with ongoing professional development and mentor support
What you’ll get

A PGCE (in most cases) and QTS by the end of the academic year
About the school You’ll be based in a well-run, supportive secondary school in Central Birmingham. The Maths department is experienced, collaborative, and passionate about training new teachers. You’ll be treated as part of the staff team and supported to succeed long-term.
