Job Description - Trainee Accounts Assistant

Are you numerate, detail-oriented, and ready to launch your career in accounting? Joining this dynamic Pensions Administration team as a Trainee Accounts Assistant the successful candidate will gain valuable hands-on experience whilst working towards professional growth and development. This role may suit a recent graduate with an Accounting and Finance degree.

About the Role

As a Trainee Accounts Assistant, you’ll play an important role in preparing pension scheme accounts and supporting the accounting services for a diverse client portfolio. Based in the Winchester office—with occasional travel to the London office—you’ll collaborate with team members and auditors to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare Pension Scheme Trustee Reports and Accounts within required timescales

  • Reconcile investment and AVC accounts with supporting working papers

  • Manage and liaise with auditors throughout the audit process

  • Attend client and auditor meetings where required

  • Assist with ad-hoc projects and contribute to team knowledge-building initiatives

  • Progress toward supporting review and quality-checking tasks as your experience grows

Key Skills

  • Strong numeracy skills and a keen eye for accuracy and detail

  • Proactive approach with good initiative and common sense

  • Effective communicator with strong written and verbal skills

  • Ability to work well both independently and within a team

  • Well-organised with the ability to manage multiple tasks

  • Intermediate Excel skills
