Trainee CNC Machinist

• Location: Bishop's Stortford
• Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
• Salary: To £25,400 PA, Plus overtime rate
• Hours: Monday to Friday: 8.00am to 4.30pm - 40 hours

About the Role:

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Trainee CNC Machinist to join our clients dynamic manufacturing team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start a career in precision engineering and gain hands-on experience with CNC machinery in a supportive and structured environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in the setup and operation of CNC machines (routers, lathes or milling machines).
• Learn to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Support the production of precision components to tight tolerances.
• Perform basic machine maintenance and cleaning tasks.
• Follow health and safety procedures and company policies at all times.
• Work closely with experienced machinists and supervisors to develop skills.
• Maintain accurate records of work completed and report any issues.

Requirements:

Essential:

• A keen interest in engineering and manufacturing.
• Good attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
• Basic understanding of mathematics and measurements.
• Strong work ethic and reliability.
• Ability to work well in a team environment.

Desirable:

• Previous experience in a workshop or manufacturing setting.
• Relevant qualifications (e.g., BTEC, NVQ, or equivalent in Engineering or Manufacturing).
• Familiarity with CNC machines or CAD/CAM software.
