Are you an ambitious trade professional, construction graduate, or technical administrator looking to step up into management within the building maintenance and FM sector?
We are a leading provider of reactive, planned, and specialist maintenance services looking for a Trainee Technical Manager to join our team. In this role, you will work alongside Senior Technical Managers and Contracts Directors to learn the end-to-end commercial, technical, and operational delivery of maintenance contracts across commercial, residential, and public sector properties.
No prior management experience is required—we are looking for someone with strong building/trade literacy, problem-solving ability, and the drive to develop into a full Technical Manager.
Key Responsibilities

Site Inspections & Scoping: Shadow senior managers on technical site surveys to scope maintenance works, identify building defects, and determine correct repair methods.
*
Work Order & SLA Management: Learn to review work orders, prioritize reactive repairs, and coordinate specialist subcontractors to meet strict client SLAs.
*
Technical Audits & Quality Control: Perform quality checks on completed works to ensure repairs meet safety regulations, trade standards, and client specs.
*
Health & Safety Compliance: Assist in producing and auditing Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), Permits to Work, and COSHH compliance logs.
*
Pricing & Quotations: Help compile schedule-of-rates (SOR) quotes, review subcontractor costs, and raise purchase orders (POs) using maintenance management software.
Requirements
*
Background: A trade qualification/background OR an HNC/HND/Degree in Construction Management / Building Services OR a technical administrator / helpdesk manager
*
Technical Aptitude: Good understanding of building fabrics, M&E systems, or general maintenance principles.
*
Computer Literacy: Tech-savvy with good knowledge of MS Excel/Office and an eagerness to learn CAFM / job management software (e.g., Simpro, Verisae, Joblogic).
*
Communication: Confident communicating with site technicians, subcontractors, estate managers, and commercial clients.
