Transport and Logistics Manager

What the Transport and Logistics Manager job involves

• Overseeing all transport and logistics operations to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of goods
• Working closely with customers, suppliers, and third-party logistics providers to deliver a seamless service
• Monitoring compliance with UK transport legislation, health & safety regulations, and environmental standards
• Keeping accurate and up-to-date records including delivery documents, fleet logs, and operational KPIs
• Leading, developing, and supporting a small but dedicated transport and logistics team of 6.
• Identifying areas for continuous improvement and cost reduction
• Assisting with budget planning and managing logistics-related expenditure
• Using logistics software and systems to manage the day-to-day operation effectively

Skills Required

To succeed in this role, you’ll need to bring a combination of operational know-how, team leadership, and a strategic mindset.

• Proven experience in a similar Transport Manager or Logistics Manager role, ideally within an SME or distribution business
• Strong knowledge of UK transport laws, fleet compliance and best practices
• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills
• A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to juggle priorities and meet deadlines
• A CPC qualification
• Experience with customs and international shipping
• Knowledge of inventory or warehouse operations
• An understanding of health & safety procedures within logistics
