Transport & Yard Manager - Builders Merchant

We’re looking for a dependable, experienced Transport Manager/Yard Supervisor to ensure we continue to deliver excellent service to our trade and retail customers.

The Role
As our Transport Manager / Yard Supervisor, you’ll be at the heart of our daily operations—ensuring the smooth, safe, and efficient running of our yard and delivery services. You’ll manage a team of 7 drivers and 10 yard staff, oversee stock control, and ensure our customers receive their materials on time and in perfect condition.

Ensure that branch operations are carried out in line with company procedures and policies.

Key Responsibilities
• Oversee all yard operations, including goods in/out, stock rotation, and housekeeping
• Manage and schedule deliveries, ensuring timely and efficient service
• Supervise and motivate yard and driving staff, ensuring high standards of safety and customer service
• Maintain vehicle compliance, including servicing, inspections, and legal documentation
• Liaise with suppliers, customers, and internal teams to coordinate logistics
• Ensure health & safety procedures are followed at all times

What We’re Looking For
• Proven experience in a similar role within the builders merchants or construction supply industry
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Excellent organisational and communication abilities
• Knowledge of transport legislation and vehicle compliance
• Forklift licence (desirable)

The Hours
Monday to Friday 07:30-17:00
