Transport Manager Wolverhampton Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum
The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Transport Manager to join a well-established and growing manufacturing business based in Wolverhampton. This is a hands-on management role responsible for overseeing the day-to-day transport operation, ensuring legal compliance, maintaining high operational standards and leading a small transport team.
This position would suit a proactive transport professional with strong leadership skills, excellent knowledge of transport legislation and a commitment to delivering an efficient and compliant operation.
Key Responsibilities
Manage the daily operation of the transport department. Lead, motivate and support the transport team to ensure excellent performance. Ensure compliance with all relevant transport legislation and industry regulations. Monitor and manage Drivers' Working Time Regulations and ensure records remain fully compliant. Ensure vehicle inspections, maintenance schedules and defect reporting are completed and kept up to date. Maintain accurate transport documentation and compliance records. Work closely with warehouse and production teams to ensure deliveries are planned and completed efficiently. Monitor fleet utilisation and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency. Support continuous improvement initiatives across the transport function. Promote a strong health and safety culture throughout the department.To be successful in this role you will have:
Previous experience managing a transport team within a manufacturing, logistics or distribution environment. Strong knowledge of Drivers' Working Time Regulations and transport compliance. Experience ensuring vehicle inspections, maintenance records and compliance documentation are maintained. Excellent organisational and planning skills. Strong leadership and people management experience. Good communication skills with the ability to build relationships across departments. A proactive approach with excellent problem-solving abilities. Competent IT skills and experience using transport or fleet management systemsDesirable
Forklift Truck (FLT) training or certification would be advantageous, although this is not essential.What's on Offer?
