Location: Stoke-on-Trent
Reed Procurement & Supply Chain are currently working with a well-established haulage company based in Stoke-on-Trent, specialising in transporting goods across the UK who are now looking to recruit a Transport Manager on a permanent basis.
Role Overview: As a Transport Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing our transport operations. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the smooth flow of goods, compliance with transport legislation, and maintaining a high level of service quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Logistics Management: Coordinate and manage the day-to-day transport activities, including route planning, vehicle maintenance, and driver schedules
- Compliance: Ensure that all transport operations adhere to legal requirements, safety regulations, and industry standards
- Fleet Management: Monitor the fleet of vehicles, track performance, and address any issues promptly
- Driver Supervision: Lead and motivate a team of drivers, providing guidance and support as needed
- Cost Control: Optimize transport costs while maintaining service quality
- Customer Service: Collaborate with clients to meet their transportation needs efficiently
Requirements:
- Experience: Previous experience in transport management position
- Knowledge: Excellent understanding of transport legislation and logistics
- Leadership Skills: Ability to lead and inspire a team of drivers
- Problem-Solving: Quick decision-making and problem-solving skills
- Communication: Effective communication with drivers, clients, and internal teams
