Transport Planner

Job Title: Transport & Operations Planner

Location: Okehampton

Salary up to: £27,000

Our client is currently looking for an experienced transport planner to join the team due to growth within the business. Ideal candidate will come from a transport background with the ability to coordinate multiple vehicles across Devon.

The role:

• Stock control, effective management of all stock in and out of the depot
• Accurate completion of admin tasks such as order confirmations, repeat orders, vehicle monitoring, incident reports, Driver defect Sheets, Driver tachograph reports
• Scheduling deliveries for a fleet of up to 10 drivers
• Liaising with the sales team in relation to customer delivery requirements
• Working closely with the Transport and Operations Manager to ensure the smooth running of the Transport department
• Booking vehicles in for inspections & repairs
• Carry out daily Driver Debriefs

Skills Required

• Ability to formulate ideas and solutions and present them effectively
• An understanding of Microsoft apps, such as Word & Excel
• Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritise work
• Attention to detail and problem solving skills
• Strong organisational and planning skills in a fast-paced environment
• A creative mind with an ability to suggest improvements
• Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative
• Excellent communication (verbal, written, listening) and interpersonal skills.
• Flexible approach to work with a focus on delivery to deadlines and high standards.
• Analytical skills and attention to detail; self-starting and strong focus on completing/finishing.
• Knowledge of Drivers hours and Tachograph Rules, desirable.
