Transport Planner Job Overview

A leading name in UK logistics company is seeking a Transport Planner to join their fast-paced and dynamic team at their London Gateway depot. This role is ideal for someone with a strong logistics background and hands-on experience planning vehicle movements - particularly in the container sector.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and schedule daily vehicle movements for Day 1 to Day 2 operations
• Manage and support a fleet of drivers throughout the day
• Communicate effectively with ports and other stakeholders
• Book delivery slots and ensure accurate port entry scheduling
• Use the TOPS transport management system to input driver start/finish times and job details
• Monitor live operations, chase ETAs, and reroute jobs when required
• Resolve issues proactively and keep customers updated on potential delays
• Check and match PODs (Proof of Delivery) with jobs on the system
• Ensure high levels of operational accuracy and compliance

Transport Planner Job Requirements

• Previous experience as a Transport Operator or Planner - Essential
• Solid background in logistics or container haulage
• Confident communicator with strong verbal and written skills
• Able to work independently under pressure with excellent problem-solving skills
• Strong UK geographical knowledge
• Highly organised, with the ability to multitask effectively
• Flexible and adaptable to meet business needs
• Comfortable working a 4 on 4 off day shift pattern
• Experience using TOPS or similar TMS
• Familiarity with port procedures and container movements

Transport Planner Salary & Benefits

• Salary circa £33,000- £36,000
