Support Young People Through Positive Relationships and Consistent Guidance

We're looking for a Trauma-Informed Mentor to support children and young people across the BCP area through personalised 1:1 mentoring.

Working on behalf of Local Authorities, you'll support learners who require alternative educational provision and would benefit from a trusted adult helping them develop confidence, resilience, emotional regulation, and engagement. Many of the young people we support have experienced barriers to education and thrive when provided with consistent, relationship-led support.

This role is focused on mentoring rather than academic tutoring, making it ideal for professionals who are passionate about supporting vulnerable young people and helping them achieve positive outcomes.

Hours: Flexible
Pay Rate: £25-£30 per hour
Type: 1:1 Mentoring

Requirements

Minimum 6 months' experience in an educational setting
Experience as a Teaching Assistant (TA), Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA), Learning Support Assistant (LSA), Mentor, Tutor, Teacher, Youth Worker, or similar role
A strong understanding of trauma-informed practice is highly desirable
Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with young people
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Patient, resilient, and empathetic approach
Experience supporting learners with SEND, SEMH, EHCPs, or additional needs is desirable
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
Driver preferred; alternatively, willingness to travel locally across the BCP area

Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
ADHD
Anxiety and school avoidance
EHCPs and additional educational needs
Experiences of trauma or disrupted educationYour role will focus on helping learners feel safe, understood, and supported while encouraging positive engagement and personal development.
