Hybrid – Home Based/Sheffield

We are looking for a Treasury Assistant to join the middle office team and assist the Scheme Finance Treasury Manager to provide scheme finance treasury services to our pensions clients.

Job Description:

Key responsibilities

  • As directed by the Scheme Finance Middle Office Treasury Manager, provide support with the development and maintenance of the accounting and treasury records systems.
  • The processing of accounting and treasury transactions to update the accounting and treasury records for client accounts
  • Complete and distribute regulatory reports
  • Provide Scheme Finance and Accounting reports as requested by Scheme Finance Middle Office Treasury Manager and Scheme Accountants
  • Filing and associated “housekeeping” duties and any other reasonable duties
  • Adhere to the ISO and Investors in People standards, Quality Management System and comply with pensions and FCA regulations and initiatives, for example, Treating Customers Fairly (TCF)
  • Ensure adherence to the business FCA CASS client monies rules operational processes and reporting

Key tasks    

  • Supporting management with the development of accounting systems
  • Recording and processing of bank receipts and payments
  • Raise payment documentation for authorisation
  • Prepare regulatory Treasury Reports as required
  • Assist with setting up new bank accounts, including updates to internal systems and set up of BACS facilities
  • Manage the account closing process, ensuring all systems and records are updated.
  • Liaising with banks to deal with any queries raised
  • Ensure that all FCA CASS operational processes and controls are carried out on a timely basis
  • Process complaints at the earliest opportunity with a positive attitude, addressing the true root cause and implementing effective corrective action in order to prevent re-occurrence
  • Identify and report risks and breaches immediately to your line manager and/or the Operational Risk and Compliance Department

What are we looking for

Essential

  • Experience of BACS and SWIFT technology
  • Knowledge of payment file format and structure
  • Experience of Accounting and Treasury Management systems
  • Experience of Accounting software packages
  • Experience of working in an accounts department
  • Can demonstrate double entry, accruals, prepayments
  • Understanding the various types of pension schemes and terminology
  • Experience in the preparation of pension scheme financial statements
  • Use of Outlook and Word for writing letters and email
  • Able to sort, filter and organise data and produce easily readable spreadsheets
  • Ensure that all data is accurately processed particularly in relation to payment of monies
  • Understanding of treasury processes and banking systems

Desirable

  • Understanding of accounting double entry principles
