Treasury Funding and Risk Manager

Job Purpose:

The Treasury Funding and Risk Manager is a key role in the Group Treasury team. Reporting directly to the Head of Treasury, you will be directly involved in the delivery of exceptional service to the group and external stakeholders as well as continuous improvement of the Treasury team as it evolves to meet the needs of an expanding business.
This role will be pivotal in assisting with the management of the organisation’s funding and risk management activities. This position combines strong analysis and operational ownership, ensuring the company maintains strong financial liquidity, optimises working capital, manages financial risk and complies with internal controls and regulatory requirements.

Job Dimensions: 

We are seeking a highly skilled Treasury Funding and Risk Manager to play a critical role in overseeing financial risk management and funding strategy across the Group. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced treasury professional to drive risk analytics and mitigation, manage funding structures, and lead key treasury system initiatives.

Key Accountabilities: 

Cash & Liquidity Management

• Review short term cash flow forecasts, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Ensure adequate liquidity for operational and strategic needs, including intercompany funding.
• Provide back-up for daily cash positioning and monitoring across all entities. 
• Act as a deputy to the Head of Treasury for daily operational needs.

Banking & Treasury Operations

• Manage banking relationships and documentation, including KYC updates. 
• Have a good understanding and practical experience of trade finance including letters of credit, bills of exchange etc., and be able to act as a point of contact for the business to ensure these are implemented in line with group policy.
• Ensure data integrity and ensuring processes are adhered to correctly.
• Monitor and improve treasury controls, ensuring compliance with internal policies and audit requirements.

Debt Management 

• Understanding of the group RCF terms including responsibility for monitoring debt compliance, covenant reporting, and interest expense forecasting.
• Manage Group external funding for a range of financial instruments.
• Review and implement intercompany debt/equity funding requests and prepare proposals to Head of Treasury.
• Ownership of intercompany agreements and other documentation, working closely with the tax team and the legal department to ensure compliance.

Risk Management

• Monitor and analyse FX exposures including recommendation and execution of relevant trades.
• Monitor and analyse risk exposure across commodities and execute recommended trades.
• Execute hedging strategies in line with policy.
• Manage monthly currency exposures on an operational level.
• Perform financial instrument valuations.
• Support strategic decision-making with robust financial insights.

Treasury Reporting & Analysis

• Preparation of treasury reporting packages for senior leadership.
• Analysis of variances in cash flow and FX gains/losses.
• Support strategic decision-making with robust financial insights.
• Develop and monitor dashboards and KPIs to enhance visibility into treasury performance.

Treasury Projects 

• Support the implementation and ongoing optimisation of the Treasury Management System (TMS).
• Identify opportunities to streamline treasury workflows and strengthen controls.
• Contribute to treasury continual improvement, transformation, projects and system upgrades.
• Drive continuous improvement in treasury processes and controls.
   

About You: 

You will be a proactive and technically strong treasury professional with a passion for risk management and funding strategy.
Key skills and experience:

• Proven experience in treasury risk, funding, and financial instruments.
• Strong knowledge of FX and desirable to have commodity risk management.
• Experience managing treasury systems, ideally having implemented a TMS.
• Solid understanding of trade finance and securities issuance.
•  Strong analytical, modelling, and valuation skills.
• Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation abilities.
•  Ability to lead projects and drive change across a complex organisation.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence cross functional partners.
• Attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:

• ACT qualification.
• 5+ years of treasury experience, ideally in a multinational or complex corporate environment.
• Advanced Excel skills.
   

Responsibilities:
1) Treasury: Develop and deliver operational plans for a unit or division in line with the overall treasury strategy.
2) Organizational Risk Management: Manage a significant portion of the organization's risk management and/or risk control processes. This includes contributing to the development and implementation of risk management policies and procedures.
3) Financial Policies, Guidelines, and Protocols: Create a plan to deliver and review financial policies, guidelines, and protocols to ensure the company complies with regulations and good financial practice.
4) Information and Business Advice: Provide authoritative specialist advice to senior managers at the business unit or regional level to enable the implementation of policy, projects, and change initiatives.
5) Leadership and Direction: Communicate the actions needed to implement the function's strategy and business plan within the team; explain the relationship to the broader organization's mission, vision, and values; motivate people to commit to these and to do extraordinary things to achieve local business goals.
6) Performance Management: Manage and report on the performance of a substantial, diverse team; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports or project/account team members and hold individuals accountable for achieving them; take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of team/personal objectives.
7) Budgeting: Develop and/or deliver budget plans with guidance from senior colleagues.
8) Operational Compliance: Monitor and review performance and behaviors within area of responsibility to identify and resolve noncompliance with the organization's policies and relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct.
9) Organizational Capability Building: Use the organization's formal development framework to identify the team's individual development needs. Plan and implement actions, including continuing professional development specified by professional or regulatory institutions, to build their professional capabilities. Provide informal training or coaching to others throughout the organization in own area of expertise to enable others to improve performance and fulfill personal potential.

Educational Requirements: Master's Degree or Equivalent Level

General Experience Requirement: Wide and deep experience providing expert competence (Over 10 years to 15 years)

Managerial Experience Requirement: Experience of planning, managing and organizing resources within short / medium timescales within the overall policy framework. (Over 6 years to 10 years)
