Job Description - Trusts Lawyer

Join One of the Region’s Leading Private Client Teams

A well-established, Top 200 law firm and provider of wealth management services with roots dating back to the 80's! With a reputation built on excellence and integrity, they are proud to house one of the largest and most respected private client teams in Lincolnshire and the East Midlands.

As part of our continued growth, we are now seeking an Experienced Trusts Lawyer to join our dedicated and busy Trusts team based in their Stamford office.

The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced solicitor or legal executive to take the next step in their career within a supportive and specialist environment. You may already be specialising in Trusts or currently working in private client law with a strong interest in this area and looking to transition your focus.

You’ll be working alongside the Head of Trusts and a senior Partner, both based at Stamford, providing expert advice and support on a wide range of Trust matters. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Advising clients and colleagues on the creation, administration, and termination of trusts.
  • Managing day-to-day trust administration, including:
    • Drafting deeds and legal documents
    • Preparing trust tax returns and accounts
    • Using HMRC’s Trust Registration Service
  • Delivering IHT and CGT planning advice
  • Advising on Agricultural and Business Property Relief
  • Drafting Declarations of Trust
  • Collaborating with internal departments and external advisers on trust matters
You may also contribute to:
  • Drafting Wills that incorporate complex trust structures
  • Assisting with estate administration (both taxable and non-taxable estates)
Additionally, you will support marketing initiatives to enhance our reputation and expand the Trusts department’s presence.

What We’re Looking ForEssential:
  • Qualified Solicitor or Legal Executive
  • Experience in trust and tax matters
  • Strong understanding of inheritance tax, CGT, and trust legislation
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and time management skills
  • Proficiency with legal software and case management systems
  • Commercial awareness and client-focused approach
Desirable:
  • STEP Diploma (or willingness to study towards it)
  • Experience using SOS Connect
  • Experience working collaboratively across departments
