A well-established precision engineering business is looking for an experienced Turn-Mill Setter Operator to join its skilled manufacturing team.

The business operates within a technically demanding precision engineering environment, producing high-value components and complex parts for demanding industries.

The Role

As a Turn-Mill Setter Operator, you will be responsible for setting and operating advanced multi-axis machining equipment, producing precision components to drawing specification and within agreed production times.

You will work across more than one machine and will need to be comfortable working with complex components and challenging materials.

The role offers the opportunity to work on:

Mazak Integrex I-800 V/8S with Mazatrol Smooth Ai controller
Okuma VTM 120YB with Fanuc 18i-TB controllerYou must have previous Turn-Mill experience and be able to set and carry out basic programming on at least one of these types of machines.

Key Responsibilities

Set and operate multi-axis Turn-Mill machinery.
Set and carry out basic programming on at least one relevant machine/control.
Work with Mazak Integrex and/or Okuma VTM equipment.
Produce high-precision components to engineering drawings and specifications.
Work with high-value and exotic materials including Titanium, Inconel and hardened steels.
Work to agreed production times and targets.
Operate more than one machine where required.
Follow operation sheets to ensure components progress through the factory correctly and on schedule.
Carry out quality checks on your own work using micrometres, verniers, gauges and other measuring equipment.
Support Technicians and Engineering with jig and fixture design.
Carry out daily and weekly TPM checks to maintain machinery and minimise breakdowns.
Assist with resolving machining issues and maintaining optimum productivity.
Train, mentor and induct less experienced Machine Operators where required.
Work collaboratively with other departments to achieve customer and company objectives.
Participate in Lean, 5S and continuous improvement activities.
Maintain high standards of housekeeping and organisation.
Follow all company Health & Safety policies and legislative requirements.About You

We're looking for a skilled Turn-Mill Setter Operator with a strong background in precision engineering.

Previous Turn-Mill experience is essential.

You should have:

Mechanical apprenticeship training or equivalent experience.
Strong experience setting and operating multi-axis Turn-Mill machinery.
Ability to set and carry out basic programming on at least one relevant machine/control.
Experience with Mazak Integrex, Okuma VTM or transferable multi-axis machining experience.
Previous precision engineering experience.
Experience working with high-value components and/or exotic materials.
Experience with materials such as Titanium, Inconel and hardened steel would be highly advantageous.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
Good understanding of quality standards and inspection requirements.
Experience using precision measuring equipment.
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a wider team.Experience within aerospace, automotive, motorsport, oil & gas or subcontract precision engineering would be advantageous.
