The Role -

As UK Financial Controller, you’ll be the heartbeat of our client’ finance function (team of circa 8 people) steering the business through a period of transformation with confidence and clarity. This is a strategic leadership role, where finance meets innovation, and traditional processes are reimagined through automation.

The successful will have full ownership of UK finance operations, ensuring financial rigour, statutory compliance, and timely reporting, while helping to create and shape a finance function that’s built for the future and future growth.

Responsibilities of the role -

• Lead & Inspire: Oversee the UK finance function, instil best practices, whilst managing the day of the finance team and striving for them to excel in their daily tasks.
• Transform & Automate: Implement automation and reduce transactional reliance, whilst maintaining robust controls.
• Drive Financial Reporting: Own management accounts, statutory filings, and UK GAAP compliance.
• Optimise Systems: Champion SAP and lead systems enhancements that deliver better control and smarter workflows.
• Cashflow Confidence: Manage treasury, forecasting, and liquidity.
• Partner with Purpose: Collaborate with senior leaders to drive commercial growth and financial agility.
• Compliance & Controls: Be the guardian of financial integrity, from VAT to payroll taxes.
• Modelling Mastery: Use your advanced Excel skills to bring data to life and support high-impact strategic decisions for the Senior Leadership Team.

Who my client is looking for -

The successful candidate won’t just be a number cruncher, you will be a finance leader who thrives on complexity, solves problems before they arise, and knows how to make things happen. You will be a highly driven and ambitious individual who embraces change and who pushes the status quo.

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
• Proven experience as a Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager
• A track record in finance transformation, especially around automation
• Deep understanding of financial risk and compliance (HMRC, VAT, Corp Tax etc.)
• SAP experience? Huge bonus but other ERP exposure is also desirable
• A confident communicator and natural business partner and leader
• Hands-on, proactive, and performance-driven instigator who is committed to driving change
