Underwriter

An exciting opportunity for an experienced commercial underwriter to join a thriving schemes broker based in Croydon. As an underwriter you play a pivotal role in supporting their direct and wholesale teams by handling various underwriting referrals and inquires.

You will also contribute to coaching and developing others and well as providing technical contact for their Operations trainer.

 Key Responsibilities:

• Underwrite new business quotations, mid-term adjustments, and renewals within delegated authority guidelines.
• Handle technical team queries by phone and email.
• Conduct triage on system-generated renewals and identify policies that require additional information.
• Refer scenarios outside of delegated authority to insurers for pricing, coverage, and policy conditions.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory procedures and adhere to team KPIs, service standards, and targets.
• Contribute to coaching and training and promote a culture of excellent customer service and continuous improvement.

Qualifications and Experience:

• A minimum of 3 years commercial combined underwriting experience gained either working for a MGA, Insurer or Schemes Broker.
• Broad range of commercial insurance experience is desirable
• Strong understanding of best practices in customer service.
• Proficiency in underwriting software, such as Acturis.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
• Strong attention to detail, excellent time management, and the ability to work under pressure.
