Underwriting Operations Team Manager

IPS Group is working with a leading global insurer to recruit an experienced and people-focused Underwriting Operations Team Manager for their Manchester office. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong leadership and operational skills to step into a key role within a supportive and well-established team.

You’ll lead a team of 10 underwriters working across a range of Commercial Lines. Your focus will be on team management, day-to-day workflow coordination, and supporting your colleagues’ development. While knowledge of specific commercial products can be helpful, it’s not essential. What matters most is your ability to lead people, keep operations running smoothly, and foster a positive, collaborative team culture.

A key part of your role will involve working closely with intermediaries and customers on-site, supporting the end-to-end handling of a defined portfolio. You'll help deliver agreed business development plans in line with the company’s wider trading strategy. Alongside the underwriting team, you’ll play a central role in managing and strengthening relationships with allocated brokers balancing intermediary needs with the company’s commercial goals to support profitable, sustainable growth.

You’ll also act as the central point of contact in the Manchester office, overseeing workloads, improving processes, and helping to create a high-performing environment. You’ll work closely with the Head of Operations on business projects and initiatives, giving you visibility across the wider business.
