Unit Catering Supervisor (Grade 4)

You will work as head of the team in Revoe  Primary School Blackpool Providing high quality, healthy, balanced meals for school children.

As Unit Catering Supervisor, you will lead a friendly kitchen team, oversee the day-to-day catering service while remaining actively involved in preparing, cooking and serving healthy, balanced meals.

Lancashire County Council's School Catering Service provides more than 60,000 meals every day across over 500 schools, and you'll play an important part in ensuring pupils receive a nutritious meal in a safe and welcoming environment.

What you'll do:

• Lead and support the day-to-day work of the school kitchen team.
• Prepare, cook and serve healthy, nutritious school meals.
• Ensure menus and production plans are followed accurately.
• Order supplies, monitor stock levels and store deliveries safely.
• Maintain catering records and support food safety compliance.
• Help create a positive dining experience for pupils.
• Ensure the kitchen operates safely, efficiently and to high standards.

• Pay is pro rata so advertised wage is for full time equivalent,32.5 hours per week, equalling 6.5 hrs per day although hours are variable depending upon school meal uptake. 

We are looking for someone who:

• Is reliable, organised and ready to take responsibility.
• Can confidently lead, motivate and support colleagues.
• Works well as part of a team while also managing their own workload.
• Can remain calm and work efficiently during busy periods.
• Can prioritise tasks and use their own initiative when needed.
• Has good communication and customer service skills.

Local Government Reorganisation

The Government has confirmed that local government across Lancashire will be reorganised, with the current 15 councils being replaced by four new unitary councils covering North, South, East and West Lancashire from April 2028.

If you are successful in your application, you will initially join Lancashire County Council. However, as part of the planned transition, your employment will transfer to one of the new unitary councils from April 2028, subject to the implementation of the reorganisation and relevant employment legislation.
