Job Description - Unix/Linux Engineer

Unix / Linux Engineer

Manchester (3-5 days on site per week)

We are actively looking to secure a Unix / Linux Engineer to join Experis.

Experis Consultancy is a Global entity with a well-established team with over 1000 consultants on assignment across 20 clients globally. Job Purpose/The Role:

The Unix/Linux Engineer will support and maintain the organisation's Linux/Unix systems, ensuring reliability, performance, and security. The role focuses on system administration, troubleshooting, automation, and contributing to infrastructure improvements across hybrid environments.

Your Key Responsibilities:

Manage Linux/Unix servers - Oversee day‑to‑day administration of Linux/Unix systems across production and non‑production environments.
Monitor system performance - Track system health, identify issues, and ensure stable, high‑performing platforms.
Troubleshoot incidents - Investigate and resolve system faults, outages, and service disruptions.
Implement system updates - Apply updates, patches, and configuration changes in line with organisational standards.
Automate routine tasks - Streamline operational processes through automation and scheduled jobs.
Support infrastructure projects - Contribute to server builds, migrations, upgrades, and environment improvements.
Maintain documentation - Keep system documentation, procedures, and configuration records up to date.Benefits Include:
