Unqualified Teaching Assistant

Job Description - Unqualified Teaching Assistant

Qualified or Unqualified Teaching Assistant – SEMH – ASAP

Location: Longsight, With Occasional Travel to Withington
Pay: £92.50–£110 Per Day
Contract: Full-Time | Temporary With the Potential to Become Permanent

About the Role

We are recruiting enthusiastic, patient and dedicated Teaching Assistants, both qualified and unqualified, to join a specialist primary provision in Longsight. Immediate starts are available for the right candidates.

The setting supports pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, including children who have experienced fixed-term or permanent exclusion from mainstream education. The aim is to help pupils rebuild confidence, develop positive behaviours and re-engage with learning in a structured, supportive and nurturing environment.

Working alongside teaching staff, you will provide classroom assistance and one-to-one support tailored to pupils' individual needs. This is a varied and rewarding role for someone who is passionate about helping children overcome barriers to education and reach their potential.

Some pupils may display behaviours that challenge, so we are looking for individuals who are resilient, patient and confident in responding to situations calmly and professionally.

Occasional support may also be required at a second site in Withington, so the ability to travel between both locations would be an advantage.

Key Responsibilities

* Support pupils with SEMH needs in the classroom and throughout the school day.

* Provide individualised one-to-one support to help pupils work towards their personal and educational goals.

* Assist teachers with delivering lessons and planned learning activities.

* Encourage positive behaviour and help pupils develop emotional regulation skills.

* Build trusting relationships that promote confidence, engagement and progress.

* Help maintain a safe, consistent and inclusive learning environment.

* Support pupils in developing their social skills, independence and confidence.

Applications are particularly welcome from individuals with backgrounds in:

* Youth Work and Mentoring

* Care and Support Work

* Sports Coaching

* Working With Children and Young People

* Behaviour Support

* SEMH or Alternative Provision

* Residential Care or Mental Health Support

Skills and Qualities

* Patient, resilient and able to remain composed under pressure.

* Confident supporting pupils who display behaviours that challenge.

* Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

* Positive, proactive and adaptable when responding to individual needs.

* Able to establish appropriate boundaries while building trusting relationships.

* Willing to learn and develop new skills within an educational setting.

* Passionate about helping pupils overcome barriers to learning.

What the School Offers

* Valuable experience within a specialist SEMH provision.

* A welcoming and supportive team of experienced staff.

* Training and opportunities for ongoing professional development.

* Full-time work with immediate starts available.

* The potential to progress into a permanent position.

If you're passionate about supporting young people, helping them develop positive behaviours and making a real difference to their education, we'd love to hear from you
