Job Description - VAT Consultant - Accountancy Practice

VAT Specialist
10 years minimum UK Accountancy Practice experience

VAT Consultant – Accountancy Practiceactice | East Croydon | £40,000 – £70,000 (DOE)
Permanent | Full-time | Office-based only (Mon–Fri, 9am–5pm)
Free on-site parking available

I’m currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established and growing Top 100 UK Accountancy Practice based in East Croydon. They are looking for an experienced and confident VAT Consultant – Accountancy Practice to join their team.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a strong background in VAT who enjoys client interaction, working in a supportive environment, and being part of a firm that focuses on small to medium-sized business clients across the UK.

The Role:

Act as the primary point of contact for VAT-related client queries
Liaise with HMRC on behalf of clients (with in-house support)
Communicate with clients via phone, email, and face-to-face meetings – clients include high street retailers, contractors, and hospitality businesses
Collaborate with the firm’s offshore processing team – no VAT return processing required
Submit daily internal reports and maintain clear records
Support with basic queries around Income Tax and PAYE

Ideal Candidate:

10+ years’ experience in a UK accountancy practice
Strong VAT knowledge and experience advising SME clients
Confident communicator with a client-focused approach
Basic understanding of Income Tax and PAYE
Highly organised and professional – able to work independently and within a team
Must be happy to work full-time from the office – no hybrid or remote options
