This is a rare and exciting opportunity for a seasoned VAT specialist to take on a strategic leadership role in a fast-growing, independent professional services firm with a national footprint and a refreshingly people-first culture.
Operating without private equity backing, this firm has grown organically from modest beginnings into a nationally recognised brand - proving that success can be achieved through values, expertise, and strong client relationships. Now, as part of its ambitious expansion plans, it's seeking a VAT Director to build and lead the VAT offering across the Midlands.
This is not a back-office role - you'll be at the forefront of shaping and growing the practice, working closely with senior stakeholders and playing a pivotal part in the firm's long-term vision.

• 
  Leading and developing the regional VAT team, mentoring and supporting talent across all levels
• 
  Taking a strategic lead on the VAT service line in the Midlands, supporting broader national growth plans
• 
  Providing expert advisory services across areas such as land & property, international VAT, charities, and digital reporting
• 
  Collaborating with other departments to ensure clients receive comprehensive and joined-up advice
• 
  Acting as a trusted advisor to key clients and intermediaries, and helping to win new business through networking and thought leadership
• 
  Contributing to internal and external communications on technical VAT developments (e.g. blogs, briefings, social media)
• 
  Playing an active role in the leadership and direction of the wider tax function

• 
  Senior-level experience in VAT gained within a professional services firm or advisory environment
• 
  Confident advising across a broad range of sectors, including property, international, and not-for-profit
• 
  A strategic thinker who thrives in a leadership role, able to grow a service line and support wider business development
• 
  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - with the ability to inspire, influence, and build trust
• 
  A passion for developing people and building high-performing teams
