Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of veterans? Do you have the experience and compassion to support those who have served our country? If so, we want you to join a dedicated team in Lambeth, London!

Our client is committed to bridging the support gap for individuals and communities. Their mission is to create places of safety and quality, helping those in need find their way through life's challenges.

About the Role:
As a Veterans Support Worker at the veterans facility, you will play a vital role in providing support to military veterans facing homelessness, mental health issues, substance use, and other complex challenges. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Building Relationships: Develop strong, respectful connections with residents to foster trust and engagement.
  • Support Planning: Collaborate with veterans to create personalised support and risk management plans tailored to their unique needs and aspirations.
  • Casework & Advocacy: Assist residents in accessing essential services like benefits, healthcare, and employment opportunities, advocating for their needs when necessary.
  • Group Work & Peer Support: Facilitate group sessions and community-building activities to reduce isolation and build confidence among veterans.
  • Partnership Working: Liaise with external organisations, including veterans' charities and housing providers, to ensure coordinated, holistic support.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate case notes and contribute to monitoring and evaluation processes.
  • Trauma-Informed practise: utilise a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach, prioritising safeguarding and well-being.
  • Service Development: Gather feedback from residents to inform service improvements and engage in reflective practise.
  • Equality & Inclusion: Promote a welcoming and inclusive environment, respecting the diverse backgrounds of residents.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience: You should have experience working with veterans or in supported housing, along with lived or professional experience supporting individuals with complex needs.
  • Skills: A trauma-informed approach, knowledge of housing systems, and an inclusive communication style are essential. Strong organisational skills and proficiency in IT for documentation are also required.
  • Qualifications: A Support or Advice Qualification at level 3 or above is preferred.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work occasional evenings or weekends is necessary.

What We Offer:

  • A permanent contract with a competitive annual salary of £35,000.
  • A supportive team environment focused on professional development and personal growth.
  • A chance to make a tangible impact in the lives of veterans and their communities.

Location:
The service is conveniently located just a 7-minute walk from Clapham North train station, making it easily accessible.

We would encourage applications from individuals with military background themselves.
