Job Title: Veterinary Surgeon 

Location: Mercer & Hughes, part of Kin Vet Community based in and around Essex (based in Bocking Braintree and Great Dunmow)

Job Type: Full time of 40 hours per week or part time with a share of weekends on a rota

Salary: Up to £65,000 depending on experience, plus benefits (see below)

Mercer and Hughes is a 4 practice group of highly respected veterinary clinics serving the Essex area for over 30 years. We work collaboratively across our clinics ensuring that we deliver the highest quality care we can to our clients and their pets.  

Our clinic in Great Dunmow is led by Dr Jonathan Fish who has a loyal client following and a way of bringing calm to every day. Whilst Bocking is led by Dr Seamus Mone who has been serving the local community for nearly as long as Mercer and Hughes has! Both clinics are supported by RVN’s and front of house teams who ensure the smooth day to day running of the clinics. Bocking and Great Dunmow also benefit from the support of our larger clinic in Saffron Walden where advanced orthopaedic procedures, laparoscopic spays and ultrasound scans are performed. We also have an on site night nurse who offers care to our inpatients ensuring we retain all the interesting cases allowing our vets to develop and stretch their skills.  

We are looking for a veterinary surgeon to work across both Bocking and Great Dunmow during the week and also support Saffron Walden on a shared rota at the weekend, offering a great service to our clients. The role would suit a vet with a GP bias, you need to love consulting and enjoy bonding clients and building relationships, however the role could equally flex to support a vet who has a medicine or surgery bias.  

This role could even be part time based in Bocking or Great Dunmow only for the right candidate.
