RSBC Dorton College is looking for an ambitious, dynamic and solution-focused qualified teaching professional to join our growing college leadership team as Vice Principal, Quality and Achievement.


This is a new and influential role, providing strategic leadership for quality assurance, curriculum excellence, student achievement and inspection readiness. The successful candidate will lead and manage the college’s approach to education quality, ensuring that our curriculum, teaching, performance monitoring and quality improvement systems enable every student to achieve in line with their outcomes and aspirations. The role will also act as the designated Quality Nominee for Ofsted.

RSBC Dorton College is an independent specialist college based in the London Borough of Bromley and in Epsom, Surrey. We provide day provision for 16 to 25-year-olds, many of whom have additional needs. We are the only independent specialist further education provider for vision impaired young people in London and the South East, offering a bespoke curriculum supported by specialist staff and partnership working with mainstream colleges.


About the role


As Vice Principal, Quality and Achievement, you will lead the college’s quality assurance and improvement work, ensuring that quality cycles, self-assessment and quality improvement planning are embedded across Dorton College and any partnership or subcontracted provision.


You will play a central role in driving high-quality education delivery, strengthening curriculum design, improving student outcomes and ensuring that teaching, learning, assessment and achievement are consistently effective. You will also oversee systems for collecting, analysing and reporting teaching, learning, EHCP outcome, attendance, retention, destination and performance data, using this insight to drive evidence-based improvement.


Working closely with the wider college leadership team, you will support the continued development of Dorton College, including partnership delivery, inspection readiness, stakeholder confidence, and the implementation of Ofsted recommendations and relevant SEND legislation changes.


Key responsibilities will include




  • Leading quality assurance, quality improvement planning, SAR processes and curriculum quality across Dorton College.




  • Driving improvements in curriculum delivery, teaching, training, learning and student achievement.




  • Monitoring student progress, taught sessions, specialist records, EHCP outcomes, attendance, punctuality, retention and destinations.




  • Acting as the designated Ofsted Nominee and leading inspection readiness activity.




  • Supporting staff with strategies, training and guidance to meet students’ learning needs, including English, maths and specialist resources.




  • Overseeing examination access requirements and contributing to multi-disciplinary work around student progress.




  • Supporting operational oversight at the Epsom site and contributing to the development of high-quality partnerships with mainstream FE colleges and other education providers.




  • Promoting and safeguarding the welfare of students, children, young people and vulnerable adults who have contact with RSBC.




About you


We are looking for someone with strong teaching, leadership and quality assurance experience, ideally gained within SEND, specialist education, further education or post-16 provision.


You will bring qualified teacher status, QTVI status or equivalent, alongside leadership and management experience or a relevant qualification. You will have experience of leading quality assurance planning and improvement, Ofsted preparation, performance monitoring, progress assessment and data-informed improvement planning.


You will be reflective, creative and flexible, with the ability to work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team. You will also understand the importance of learning success in supporting the social and emotional wellbeing of children and young people with vision impairment.


Experience of working with vision impairment, QTVI status, specialist college or post-16 SEND provision, multi-site provision, partnership or subcontracted provision, Preparing for Adulthood outcomes or the Curriculum Framework for Vision Impairment would be particularly welcome.
